Sweet Amalia Market and Kitchen
2026 Season Opening Postponed
Hello Sweet Amalia Community,
Spring is in the air and so is the much-anticipated annual opening of Sweet Amalia Market & Kitchen. Since the opening of our market & kitchen - a revitalized roadside stand - in April of 2021, we have grown beyond our wildest dreams. At our heart is a flourishing community of farmers, fishers, artists, bakers, and friends coming together to celebrate our Jersey roots, while bolstering our local economy.
This year, unfortunately, we have hit a roadblock. While we are eager to open our doors, we must wait on seating approvals. The Market & Kitchen is within the Pinelands, a 1.1-million-acre treasure in our densely populated state. Our business growth has triggered land use changes that require careful consideration by the Pinelands Commission, municipal, and county authorities. Despite the fact that we are willing to move forward with the designated instructions, we have found ourselves in a holding pattern, waiting for the necessary approvals. In the interim, it has been required that we remove our outdoor picnic tables, with an option to offer take-out service.
We feel this option is a disservice to both our loyal customers and newcomers - some who travel hours as a result of national media coverage. Thus, to our great disappointment, and that of our staff and guests, we remain closed with the hope of reopening in the near future.
Please email or message us if you have questions about outstanding gift cards. In the meantime, Sweet Amalia oysters are available at various Jersey Shore and Philadelphia restaurants and continue to be offered for purchase through our on-line pre-order and pick-up program.
Thank you for your understanding, we look forward to serving you soon.
